This has to be one of the saddest stories in the Bible. Living in America we have bought the idea that money will solve all of life’s problems. This story however shows how wrong that thinking is. So he went to Jesus and he asked him what must he do to be fulfilled and Jesus said give it all up and follow me. How many of us are not willing to let go of what we have in order to gain what we actually want? A preacher once said, God cannot bless a closed fist. We want peace but aren’t willing to follow the source of peace. We want joy but are unwilling to let go of that which steals it away.
