Worrying Kills

I am a worrier. I wish I wasn't but I am. And my worry can then become overwhelming. Worrying that I'm not good enough, worrying that I'll be rejected, worried that people are talking about me behind their back, worried that I won't have enough money, worried that my life will fall apart if I make a wrong moved, worried that if I dream that when they don't come true (notice I didn't say if) the disappointment will be devastating. Worrying... It can be incredibly crippling. Each an everyday it is a fight for me to not let my worrying about what ifs destroy my present and future. Worry is useless. Worry saps our strength and steals our focus. It causes us to be more awestruck and dumbfounded by storms than by the one who silences storms with a word. — Judah Smith (@judahsmith) March 11, 2019 But each and everyday is a what if. Life is a big what if because its a series of choices and each choice has a consequence, good or bad. What I have to remem...

Podcast Episode 8: Let's Talk That NYS Law

If you hadn't heard NYS passed a new abortion law . The response on both sides of the issue has been crazy. Read:  My Thoughts on the Abortion Debate As a Christian I have always had a problem with the way the Church has handled this debate. In Episode 8 of the Podcast I give my thoughts on how the Church should be addressing the situation. We should be part of the solution not adding fuel to the fire. But that requires us to do some introspection. No matter what one decides, or which side you sit on, the fact of the matter is we all are free to make our own choices, God still loves us because we all fall short and as a Christian we are to be the manifestation of God's love. Podcast Episode 7: Choose Happiness

How often do we surrender our happiness to others? Every time we allow others to steal our joy or blame someone for why we are miserable we give them power over our lives. Life is a series of choices, life or death choices. It can be a literal life and death choice i.e. if you have diabetes and choose not to take your insulin or it can be figurative i.e. you allow someone to get under you skin and it changes your whole mood. Read:  God Gave Us the Gift of Choice In Episode 7 of the podcast I talk about the fact that the only person's actions we can control is our own and that we should choose happiness. I can't control what people do to me but I can control how it affects me and how I respond to it. I have chosen to be happy. The Sin You Do To Yourself

"Lets talk about sex baby, lets talk about you and me..." One thing that never goes out of style is sex. From both a scientific and biblical standpoint sex is for procreation. Before in vitro the only way to get pregnant was doing the do. But outside of that it is for the joining of two people together because back in Genesis God said, "it is not good for man to be alone". However, in Christiandom we teach that sex is nasty, dirty, vile thing to be done in the dark because we have to and never discussed which is foolishness. And we do our young ppl a great disservice when we do so. That's why as a youth leader I did this study. We get the secular version of sex all day but young people especially those in church need to know the truth of God's vision for this wonderful act. They need to understand why God said sex was for marriage only. Not because He wants to cramp your style but because He wants to save you from a bunch of heartache. Sex is a beaut...

God Gave Us the Gift of Choice

The ability to choose it under attack. But this is not the first time nor will it be the last. Starting from Adam and Eve God has given us choice. The choice to love Him, the choice to obey Him, the choice to walk with Him, the choice to worship Him. He's never tried to stifle it, He's never tried to force anything or take it back. He gives you the ability to freely choose how you want to live your life. God of course has a direction He wants you to go that will bring you a future and a hope ( Jeremiah 29:11 ) but you ultimately have the ability to make the choice you want to make. So if no one has ever told you; CHOICE IS OF GOD! At every turn in this country people try to stifle choice in the name of God but that is not of God. I am a pro-choice person because I believe that you have the right to make decisions about your body, who you date/marry, etc and that having choices does bring life. Everyone is entitled to have the best information they can to make a well in...

Freedom

Its easy to feel like you are a slave to your circumstances. Not too long ago I was feeling that way and sitting in it. Being weighed down by despair, pity, disappointment, anger, frustration. Allowing those things to poison my mind and spirit. And then I made the choice to be free. My situation hasn't changed but my outlook, my response, the way I live in that situation has. I've chosen freedom. God has set you free. Jesus died so that you can be free and the Father gives you the opportunity to choose to accept that freedom or live in captivity. We have bought the lie that Satan says that we don't have a choice. That there is no way to live victorious even in the worst of circumstances. It is his way to limit our power. He knows that if we get caught up in what we can see and lose hope he has effectively halted our growth, our praise, our worship, our ability to be resilient. He knows that if we let joy, hope, passion, praises, gratefulness, optimism to bubble up ins...

My Thoughts on the Abortion Debate

The ability to choose it under attack. But this is not the first time nor will it be the last. I will be talking more about choice in March but in light of all that transpired and potentially will transpire I felt it necessary to address this sooner. Starting from Adam and Eve with the tree, God has given us choice. He's never tried to stifle it or take it back. And why? Because He didn't want individuals who felt forced or trapped into serving God. He wants our worship to be given freely. He has a personal cheer-leading section already. They are called angels. He gives you the ability to freely choose how you want to live your life. An example of this is He let David have multiple wives even though that was a pagan custom David adopted from neighboring nations and it is not God's picture of marriage. God of course has a direction he wants you to go that will bring you a future and a hope ( Jeremiah 29:11 ) but you ultimately have the ability to make the choice yo...
