True or False? The Bible Was Written by Man.

True! But so is every book that has ever been written. That does not disqualify the Bible from being true.

It is a collection of true stories by authors handpicked by God to tell his story. This is no different than an autobiographer writing their first hand account or a biographer writing the account of a person's life as it is being relayed to them by that person.

This has always been an interesting topic for me because all books are written by man but only the Bible's integrity is questioned on the basis of this reasoning. We take science books, history books, documentaries at face value. Other religious text are also written by man but their integrity isn't questioned in this basis either.

So why else do I think the Bible is true?

1) The story follows the children of Israel. The same Jewish descendants that exist today. They are the only group of people who have consistently witnessed and been an integral part of world history.

2) It has survived generations of exiles, captivity, hostile takeovers, book burnings, nomadic lifestyle, beheadings, imprisionments and cover-ups.

3) It explicitly states not to add or take away from the Bible (Revelation 22:18-19 MSG). With all the different authors, time periods, generations, and centuries this book spans to have that in the text shows me that there was someone along the way handpicking the stories to be included.

4) Other texts in history validate its contents mainly Jewish history.

5) Some of the authors of the Old Testament, especially Isaiah, referenced things they didn't experience but came to pass.

But there are so many versions? People say.

My response is that versions in this case is synonymous with translations. The Bible was originally in Aramaic & Hebrew. That makes sense because all the writers are Jewish. Then it was translated to Greek. That follows the progression of history with the height of the Greek state. Then as it made its way through world power transitions it was translated to Latin during the Roman Empire and then when it made its way to England under King James it was translated to the King's English. This is the King James Version. And other iterations are the same text just in words that can help the common man understand it. It's in almost every world language. So, it's Not different versions just different translations.

In Summary: Yes men physically wrote the Bible. But God picked the writers and He inspired the stories they told.

Even after all this people will still question the validity of the book and that is fine. God does not need to explain Himself to us. Those who want to know the truth are the folks He wants to reach anyway. And those who seek it will find it (Matthew 7:7–8).

Praise Break - Ghost Town (Freedom)

The earth was new, a great frontier The perfect place to spread his fear So satan set up shop to draw them in Bright lights to display all his wares "Come on in, forget your cares" That devil knew just how to package sin People came from far and wide Not a guilty soul denied But before they knew they'd been deceived They'd step inside and never leave They said his eyes were black as coal His voice a shudder to the soul He preyed upon the broken and the proud He told them they were lost for good No one loved them and who would Before too long he owned that fallen town And from inside the gates they'd wail: Who can save us from this hell? And as their hopes turned into tears He laughed and all his demons stood and cheered Then down a dirt road from the east Came one, they said, could slay the beast But did not fight with bullets or a sword They called him Mercy and at his side A thousand angels chose to ride And a...

Expectation in God

So now wrap your heart tightly around the hope that lives within us, knowing that God always keeps his promises!     -Hebrews 10:23, Passion Translation   I was taught that expecting God to give me things or do things for me was bad. We’re told to ask God for things but, in the same breath, not expect Him to give them to us. It was in the name of piety but how backward is that? Especially because it contradicts God’s Word. Then on the flip side, now we tell people to "Name it and claim it" but that leads to disillusioned Christians disappointed that God hasn't granted their wishes. God isn't a genie. That contradicts God's Word too. How many of us know the scripture, ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened to you? ( Matthew 7:7-8) If this is true, which it is, doesn’t that create expectancy? Doesn’t that mean I should expect to receive something? Of cour...

My Year End Reflections

2016 has been very... (insert whatever and how many adjectives you want) Many of those who started the year won't finish it and many who didn't start it will live to see another year. The political, financial, personal, professional and emotional landscapes for most as 2017 looms may not look promising and at the very least daunting. But hope... Hope is, in my opinion, as necessary to life as air. Hopelessness is a deep pit that can swallow you whole. When our hope is built on shifting, sinking sand it is very easy for us to lose it. But.. MY hope is built on nothing less than Jesus Blood and Righteousness... God is still God. The sun still rises and sets. Jesus is still risen from the dead. So therefore I will always have hope because money, people, things, leaders, bosses, jobs, empires, nations pass away but inspite of our best efforts to destroy and eradicate God from our world HE STILL LIVES and HIS PROMISES are still TRUE . I dare not trust the sweetest...
